So the other day I got invited to Nigeria to show and express my art. Hard to say no to that!
During my stay I got asked to paint a portrait for the President himself, Goodluck Jonathan. I wasn't so familiar with the leader of the nation but accepted it as another challenge. And so I went to Abuja (the economical Capital of the country), beautiful city btw. I got to visit some painting village where I got my supplies and started making my artwork on the spot. It was a wonderful experience. I painted the president facing himself; on the left him being in his Western clothes and on the right wearing his Traditional national outfit. The whole piece is framed by the flag of Nigeria in the background creating a mirror illusion in the composition. I also blended my paint with the soil which added really nice texture while adding a symbolic value to it. I named the artwork "Reflection of a Nation" as a self reflection on how he governed his country during his mandat. #naija #nigeria #abuja #goodluckjonathan
